Rehearsals Resume

It's back to the grind for the band following our Christmas break and rehearsals resume on Tuesday 10th January. The hard work now starts on the preparation for the Scottish Championships that will take place over 18th - 19th March in Perth Concert Hall.

The second section test piece this year is Rodney Newton's 'The Pilgrim's Progress'. It draws its inspiration from John Bunyan's celebrated Christian allegory written in 1678 as well as Eric Ball's setting of Bunyan's 'Pilgrim's Hymn'.

Written in 2003 (the centenary of Ball's birth), the composer has crafted a set of variations, each outlining a chapter in the Pilgrim's journey to the Celestial City. The work is dedicated to Bandmaster Stephen Cobb and The International Staff Band of The Salvation Army.

This is a great but difficult test piece and it will be a big challenge for us and all bands taking part. As always, we will do our best!
